Your eating habits during breastfeeding affects you and your little one’s growth and development. Your breast milk will be good even though you don’t eat well. But it is important to get all the nutrients that your body is losing while feeding your baby breastmilk. So, here are some nutritional tips that will help new moms to stay healthy and get all the nutrients.

Follow a balanced diet

A balanced diet is always beneficial for everyone. By having a balanced diet your boy gets all the nutrients in an adequate quantity. Make sure you are having a variety of vegetables and fruits. While limiting empty calories, take more lean proteins and grains.

Consume enough calories

Making breastmilk and breastfeeding demands a huge amount of calories. So, getting enough calories is very important. But make sure to eat the right form of calories. Such as junk foods contain a huge amount of calories but they are not nutritious and are no use. Though you can have them once in a while but try to get the needed calories from healthy meals and snacks.

Limit some foods

In case there is any history of food allergies in your family it will be good if you limit those foods. For breastfeeding moms, it is very very important to limit their total caffeine intake. As, caffeinated beverages will make your baby irritable and there will be a problem of sleeping. The best way is to consult with your paediatrician. 

Have milk-making foods

As you are breastfeeding your baby, your body also needs some milk-making foods. Almonds, dark green vegetables, chickpeas, oatmeals, these are the foods that promote the production of milk. 

Get enough fluids

Water is the main component of breastmilk. So, it is important to stay hydrated and take enough amounts of fluid. The letdown reflex will also make you thirsty. So, drink eight glasses of water or other healthy beverages to get the demanded fluid.

Eat all the Vitamins

A healthy breastfeeding diet has all the necessary Vitamins and minerals. You also can continue taking your prenatal vitamin. But keep in mind that any Vitamin supplements can not replace a healthy diet.
