As per the Darwinian evolutionary theory, “The fittest one will survive”. And in order to make your baby fit to have a healthy life it is better to try to boost her immunity from the very beginning. Here are some tips to boost your little boo’s immunity system.

Add more fruits and vegetables to her diet

Your diet plays a huge role in your healthy living. So give your children a colourful diet. Include green vegetables, beans, carrots, and oranges, strawberries as they all have Carotenoids. This immunity boosting phytonutrients can develop white blood cells, which fights with infectious disease. Carotenoids also helps to increase the amount of interferon, which coats cells’ surfaces and blocks viruses from attacking the cells. Make sure that your baby is having at least 10 tablespoons of vegetable and fruit meals and for older kids it should be one cup.

Proper sleep

Studies show that sleep deprivation makes a person more vulnerable to illness by reducing the number of natural killer cells, which fights against the microbes along with cancer cells. Though the studies have been done on adults, this is also true for children as well. Sleep requirements vary on the basis of their age.

  • Children between the age of 3 to 5 years need 10 to 13 hours of sleep at night.
  • Children between the age of 6 to 13 years need 9 to 11 hours of sleep at night.
  • Children between the age of 14 to 17 years need 8 to 10 hours of sleep at night.

Exercise

Studies show that exercising can increase the number of natural killer cells and a regular exercise boosts the immune system in your child. Do not ask her to go outdoors and play, rather do exercise with her and motivate her. Several fun activities with family such as outdoor sports also help.

Breastfeed her more

Nowadays, doctors advise to only breastfeed your baby for the first six months. The breast milk has turbo-charged immunity-boosting antibodies along with white blood cells, which protects your baby from several infections and diseases like ear infections, allergies, pneumonia, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, meningitis. It also has the power to enhance baby’s brain power and helps to fight with  colitis, insulin-dependent diabetes, Crohn’s disease along with certain forms of cancer in older life. During the first few days after birth a thin yellow “premik” called Colostrum flows from the breast and is enriched with disease fighting antibodies.

Now you know what you need to do for your baby to give her life long immunity in order to stay strong and healthy. Apart from all the above mentioned points teach your child to wash her hands when she comes from outdoors and before every meal.
