Saraswati Puja also is known as “Basant Panchami” reminds us of the beginning of the queen of all seasons, Spring. All over India in the different regions, the fifth day of Phalgun month according to Hindu calendar celebrates this day in Various way. On this day Hindus worship to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, language and all the form of arts. It is believed that this occasion is also a holy time to start your children’s journey of education. In West Bengal, they choose this day to teach their child’s how to write on a slate with chalk, which is called “Hate-khori”. ‘Hate’ means “in hand” and ‘khori’ stands for the chalk. In the state of Odissa, this ritual is known as Khadi-Chuan’/Vidya-Arambha. 

Goddess Saraswati resembles education and knowledge. Many educational institutes or organisations, which are linked with creativity prays to Goddess Saraswati for prosperity. Education is a necessity and also the basic right of every child. It is said that children are like flowers, they bloom when they get the right education and it should start from the very beginning. From its very first day, the baby starts learning but gaining knowledge is a different thing. Before the age of three, a child does not remember much. So the main process of learning or gaining knowledge starts from the age of three. 

Pre-school education

The Indian education system is divided into several levels. The initial level or pre-school level has the main motto of making the children ready for school. Here, they learn how to be respectful, compromise and how to solve small problems. The children are also taught how they should behave in school along with some basic manners. They also learn creative works as well, start making friends. They spend some time without their parents or caregiver, which help them to make a habit of spending some time without their parents or their caregiver. 

Primary and Upper primary education

The next step of pre-school education is primary education. From the age of 6 years to 10 years are given the primary base of education. The children with an age range of 11 years to 12 years are given upper primary education. Primary education is considered as the most important and essential for every child. Here, children’s social and emotional development occurs. Children belong to this age duration are needed to be guided properly in order to develop confidence and be independent. They also develop reading and communication skills. Various studies and researches have shown that the impact of a primary school is more than that of the children’s family in order to develop their personality. 

After these initial stages, secondary and higher secondary education is given and from children, those little star becomes teenagers and gaining bits of knowledge which will help them their entire life and make them able to make the right decisions for themselves.
