Hot days are here. We guess you have already swapped those fully covered baby dresses with sleeveless, short dresses. But exposure to the direct sun and heat also can cause several damages to your little angel’s skin. Summers come with sunburn, prickly heat, heat rashes, insect bites, and many more things. Here are some summer skincare tips for your babies and children.
Sunburn in babies and toddlers
Baby’s skin is much more delicate and thinner and so it gets sunburned easily. Sunburn can really hurt. So it is very important to get proper care of sunburn.
How to treat sunburn
- Cool baby’s skin by just applying cool and wet cloth for around 10 to 15 minutes for 3 to 4 times a day until the redness of the skin goes away.
- Soothe your baby’s skin with aloe vera gel or a hypoallergenic moisturizer.
- In case your baby is less than one year old and gets a sunburn it will be good to call a doctor.
- If she is more than one year old and gets severe sunburn with some other symptoms such as fever, blisters, chills, and pain then you definitely should consult an expert.
How to prevent sunburn
- Mostly try to keep indoors as much as possible during the hot hours i.e. 10 am to 3 pm.
- Make your baby wear a wide brim hat to cover her head and face from direct sunlight and heat.
- Dress her in light fabric but make sure to cover her skin as much as possible.
- Use child sunscreen before going out in the sun only for kids of more than 6 months old.
