Diaper rash is very common but it is more than enough to make any parent worried. It annoys babies the most. Though anyone who wears diaper on a regular basis can get diaper rash babies are prone to develop them as their skin is much more sensitive than others. So, here are some tips to prevent diaper rash and rescue your little boo from irritation. 

Possible reasons for diaper rashes

There are many reasons behind developing diaper rash

Rubbing or grazing: A tight-fitting diaper or cloth can cause a rash, as it rubs against the delicate skin of your baby.

Bacterial infection: A simple infection can spread over the surrounding regions. The areas, which stay covered by the diaper, such as, thighs, genitals, buttocks are prone to rashes. As all these areas are warm and moist, so there is a high chance of breeding bacteria and yeast. Within the crease of the skin are mainly the area, where you will find these rashes. 

Irritation from urine or stool: A long exposure to urine or stool is another cause of irritation to your baby’s delicate skin. There is a high chance of getting diaper rash if your little angle having diarrhea or frequent stool passing, there is a high chance of getting diaper rash.

Irritation from a new product: Baby skin is much more sensitive than ours. Their skin reacts on a different brand of disposable diapers, or to a new brand of wipes, or in case you are using reusable cloth diapers then maybe the detergent, or fabric softener or the bleach you are using while washing it is the culprit of diaper rash.

Preventing or Treating diaper rashes

If your little boo has diaper rash, do not get panicked. Here are some simple tips that you can use to prevent those rashes. 

  • Have a look at the diaper frequently and if it is wet or soiled change it immediately.
  • Use, very soft, damp cloth to clean those areas. Do not sub rather pat it dry. Selects those wipes which have no fragrance and contain zero amount of alcohol and other nasties. 
  • Buy a decent diaper rash cream and apply it thoroughly to the affected areas. Form a thick layer of the cream. It not only treat the rashes but also works as a barrier between the diaper and your baby’s skin. 
  • Do not overtighten the diaper, as it prevents airflow, which allows bacteria to breed in the moist area causes diaper rash. 
  • Use lukewarm water to wash your baby’s diaper area while changing the diaper. Make it a part of a diaper change. 
  • When possible allow your baby to go without a diaper. Exposure to fresh air is a gentle and natural way to get it dry. 

By following the above mention steps, you will be able to eliminate the diaper rash. And if it persists longer than 3 to 4 days, and get worse immediately consult a doctor.

As you know the reasons behind those red inflamed rashes on the diaper area. It will be easier for you to prevent it and take care of your baby if she gets any.
